My Overall Rating:
4/5

Cover Art:
I love the cover. It's very delicate, just like the way Gemma portrays herself. But it also has an air of secrecy. The life Gemma leads. I think it is a well done cover for the book, and the entire series.

Age Recommendation:
I'd recommend late middle school early high school for this book. It's not so much risque, but because of the themes, you should be aware before you read it. It is not a light read either. So a strong young adult reader should be fine.

Summary:
Gemma Doyle is looking forward to a holiday from Spence Academy -- spending time with her friends in the city, attending balls in fancy gowns with plunging necklines, and dallying with the handsome Lord Denby. Yet amid these distractions, her visions intensify -- visions of three girls dressed in white, to whom something horrific has happened that only the realms can explain.

The lure is strong, and soon Gemma, Felicity, and Ann are turning flowers into butterflies in the enchanted world that Gemma takes them to. To the girls' great joy, their beloved Pippa is there as well, eager to complete their circle of friendship.

But all is not well in the realms -- or out. Kartik is back, desperately insisting to Gemma that she must bind the magic, lest colossal disaster befall her. Gemma is willing to comply, for this would bring her face-to-face with her late mother's greatest friend, now Gemma's foe -- Circe. Until Circe is destroyed, Gemma cannot live out her destiny. But finding Circe proves a most perilous task. . . .

This sumptuous companion to A Great and Terrible Beauty teems with Victorian thrills and chills that play out against the rich backdrop of 1895 London, a place of shadows and light . . . where inside great beauty can lie a rebel angel.

My Thoughts:
This book was for the most part a page turner just like it's prequel. But there was a rather large section in which I had to force myself to move forward. It was beautifully written just as the previous book was and I quite enjoyed it.

This book answers many questions left from it's predecessor while creating it's own for the next book to answer. It's a book filled with romance, mystery, passion, sorrow, and pain. All the angst of a teenager. Except there is magic.

Gemma is once again on the hunt to find the temple to seal the magic she released in the first book. She is joined by her old friends and makes some new ones. This tale of a journey of a young girl to fulfill her purpose in life and to understand who she is is one any girl can relate to and is quite a joy to read. I was on edge while reading for the majority of the book. There was a lot of gasping and "NO!"s along with the occasional "Oh my gosh!".

I would definitely recommend this book to any reader looking for a journey to venture on. And I would strongly suggest that if you get stuck on a part like I did, KEEP PUSHING, it is well worth it. So many unexpected twists and turns await you in this wonderful book.

Teaser Tuesday is brought to us by Should Be Reading. This weeks teaser is from Deadly Little Lies by Laurie Faria Stolarz.

"'You'll be next,' a voice whispers. It's an angry hisslike tone that nearly makes me drop the receiver.

'Who is this?' I insist. I look toward my window. The curtains are parted, the blind is rolled to the top.
I spring from my bed to tug the blind down.
'You'll end up like her,' the voice continues; it's followed by a weird crackling sound.
'Who is this?' I repeat.
But the line is dead." (92)

Hope I didn't spoil anything! :)

Rules:
1) Grab your current read.
2) Open to a random page.
3) Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.
4) BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
5) Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Overall Rating:
5/5

Age Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to any young adult girl who loves to laugh. There is some crude humor in it but nothing extreme.

Cover Art:
Again, I absolutely love the cover. It truly matches the randomness and humor of the book and Georgia's life.

Summary:
Time to gird the loins and pucker up.

Blimey O'Reilly's trousers! When Georgia embraced being the girlfriend of a Rock Legend/Luurve God, she thought that was the end of her lovenosity woes. As usual, Georgia is the last to know what she is talking about. Now there's the small matter of a snogging accident involving her matey-type mate Dave the Laugh and some toasted newts in her undercrackers. Can Georgia lock up her red bottom and throw away the key?

My Review:
The second to last book in the series. I can't believe it's almost over. And once again, I am completely blown away by the writings of Louise Rennison. She really is quite a genius.

The complications of Georgia's love life continue. Whether or not she'll be able to go see her beau in Pizza-a-go-go-land, or whether or not the relationship will even work out. Or is he really the one she should be with? In this installment of the Georgia Nicholson Confessions, we get even more tangled up in her crazy life than before. There are issues with friends, boys, and of course family.

As crazy as the series is, it's very easy to relate to a lot of what is going on in Georgia's life. I really like that you can read this book, or series rather, and feel like you're not the only one who has difficulties with friends, boys, and family. Plus, reading about Georgia's issues can sometimes make you feel better about your own. It gives you something to smile about no matter what mood you're in.

This is really an all around feel-good book that is guaranteed to bring you major laughter and brighten any day. I would definitely read it again and again and I would recommend it to every girl I know. This series is just one of those that has to be read. I can't wait to read the next one to see how it all ends.

Aimee Friedman is the author of the recent release of Sea Change which is on sale now.

Romantic Scholar To start, would you mind giving a brief summary of Sea Change?

Aimee Friedman Miranda Merchant, sixteen and levelheaded, is spending the summer on a small, mist-shrouded island off the coast of Georgia. The island's history is full of legend and lore, particularly regarding people who come from the sea and live on land as humans. Miranda dismisses these legends as the stuff of fairy-tales...until she meets Leo. A green-eyed, handsome, mysterious local boy, Leo challenges everything Miranda thinks she knows about boys, love, friendship...and reality.

RS What inspired you to write such a different genre from your other books?

AF I'd had the idea for Sea Change for a long time. I love The Little Mermaid story, and I love the movie "Splash," and I'd always wanted to write a story where the roles were reversed: it's the boy who comes from the sea and the girl who is the human in love with him. So this idea was percolating while I wrote some of my other books, and then, when all the YA supernatural romance novels started to explode, my editor felt it was the right time for me to publish my "merman" story. It was fun and challenging and exciting to depart a little bit from the very realistic YA fiction I'd been writing.

RS Miranda is such an independent and unique character. Is she based off of you or someone you know?

AF In many ways, Miranda is like me, but also a much more rational, logical, calm version of me! Like Miranda, I went to the Bronx High School of Science, but I was never that great at science--I always preferred English, writing, history, languages. And unlike Miranda, I tended--and still tend--to be a little on the dramatic side. I gave Miranda all the "steady" qualities I often wish I had...but then of course all those qualities get turned upside down when she falls in love.

RS Do you find it easy to come up with your characters and storylines?

AF I almost always have lots of different, half-formed, little snippets and seeds of ideas brewing in my head, and it's just a matter of sitting down and tethering those ideas to a real narrative. Sometimes it's just a line or a phrase that I'd like to follow into a larger story, sometimes it's a "what-if?" scenario, sometimes it's a character. Often my characters are inspired by someone I've known or met at some point in my life, but the character I write is never quite like that real-life person. Like the little seedling ideas, the character inspirations are just jumping-off points. The process can be rich and rewarding, but it's certainly never easy.

RS Do you have any favorite characters?

AF In SEA CHANGE, I'd have to say my favorite character (aside from Miranda and Leo, of course) is Isadora. Though we never meet her, she's such a strong presence in the story that she's almost like a ghost. And of course there's her own romantic history, her fabulous clothes, her fierce spirit. I'd love to write a story just about Isadora herself..

RS Can we look forward to seeing a sequel to this story?

AF I do have a sequel in mind, but I'm working on something new right now, so I haven't had a chance to work on it. But stay tuned!

RS What inspired you to write?

AF I've written every since I can remember--probably ever since I COULD write. It's simply my favorite thing to do, the one thing in life I can't imagine NOT doing. I think I'm a born daydreamer, so writing, in many ways, is like daydreaming on paper. Only a little bit harder.

RS Do you have any favorite authors?

AF So many! My tastes are very varied, too. I love Charlotte Bronte, Meg Cabot, Michael Chabon, Emily Giffin, Tracy Chevalier...and on and on.

RS Are you looking forward to any upcoming releases?

AF SEA CHANGE will be out in paperback in June 2010--be on the look-out!

RS Are you working on anything new right now?

AF Yes, I'm working on something for younger readers, which has been a refreshing change of direction for me. I love to mix up the kind of writing I do to keep myself creatively energized!

RS Where is your favorite place to write?

AF A small cafe right near my house that has the best vanilla iced lattes, muffins, comfy seats, and--most importantly--lots of people around me, also working on their laptops. I pretty much need to be around other people who are being productive in order to be productive myself.

RS Do you like to listen to music while you write? If so, what do you like to listen to?

AF I pretty much HAVE to listen to music while I write. It just keeps me going, and very often I give my books playlists, matching the tone of the music to the tone of the book, and vice-versa. For example, you can check out my SEA CHANGE playlist here: http://www.musical-menagerie.com/2009/09/author-playlist-sea-change-by-aimee.html

RS What are some of your favorite snacks or drinks that you like to have while writing?

AF I usually need a big iced latte by my side to kick-start me, but I feel more virtuous if I replace that latte with some fresh O.J. or just water. In terms of snacks, I crave sweets and chocolate and all kinds of "bad-for-you" food like crazy when I write, and I'll usually allow myself to indulge in M&Ms and pizza "for the sake of the book." It's truly a great excuse.

RS Is there something that you've always wanted someone to ask you in an interview?

AF The snack question is a great one! My friend recently asked me what the very first thing I ever wrote was called, and I thought this would be a good interview question! My very first "novel," that I wrote when I must have been about eight years old, was called "Spaghetti and Meatballs" and it was about two best friends who had a terrible fight. But no worries, it ended happily, of course.

RS Any last comments?

AF Please visit me at my website at www.aimeefriedmanbooks.com. Feel free to send me a message--I love to hear from my readers! And keep reading, writing, and daydreaming...

Thank you so much for being with us Aimee. It was such a pleasure to interview you, and meet you at the Decatur Book Festival.

Check out my review on Sea Change here.

My Overall Rating:
5/5
Age Recommendation:
I would recommend an age of 16 for this book. There are sexual themes and underage alcohol references and usage.
Cover Art:
I just love the cover for this book. It is so so so pretty and it completely ties in with the story. It is the main character and her mystery man. I like the intimate pose that they have in the cover, I think it really adds to the relationship that the two have.

Summary:
After major drama with her boyfriend and (now ex) best friend, 16-year-old Miranda Merchant is happy to spend the summer on small, mysterious Selkie Island. There, Miranda finds a place with a mysterious, mystical history, and Leo, who challenges everything she thinks she knows about boys--and reality.
My Review:
First off, this book was absolutely AMAZING. I loved it. It is by far one of my most favorite books ever. It is such a sweet tale of romance and finding yourself. This is Aimee's first time writing in the fantasy genre, and for a first timer, well, I certainly couldn't tell. Her writing style is so solid, it seems as though she has been writing in this style all along.

You follow Miranda, a young teen, on a summer trip to an island vacation home. There she finds out about herself. Who she really is, and what in life really is important to her. She had been hurt, but the island had changed everything. She finds friendship, a new relationship with her mom, and the love of a very special person.

You really get to know Miranda, and it doesn't take the whole book. You learn so much about her. It's almost as if you are her. You feel the pain of her past and present. And the yearning to understanding the mystery guy who may be the only one who can help her find herself.

This book is a must read for any girl. The story of finding yourself and love is a story that any young girl (age 0-100 of course!) can relate to. Yes this book is written for YA, but it has no limits. This would also be a great read for a book club, especially a mother daughter book club. I was greatly impressed with this book and have fallen completely in love with it, and I have a feeling that many readers will feel the same way.

This book was so well written and it leaves off in a way that the story can be finished or that there might be a sequel. This is most definitely a book that I will read again and again, and I recommend it to everyone. It is such a fulfilling story that can warm anyone's heart. And I am so lucky to have gotten my copy signed at the Decatur Book Festival!

My Overall Rating:
5/5

Age Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to any young adult girl. There is some crude humor in it but nothing extreme.

Cover Art:
The cat kills me. The cover really doesn't have much to do with the story but it is just downright adorable. Well, it is supposed to be the main character and one of her cats, but it's completely random. I love it.

Summary:
The nub and gist is that I have accidentally acquired two Luuurve Gods.

Oh my giddy god! Georgia has somehow landed back in the cakeshop of agony now that Robbie the Sex God has returned and she has three potential snoggees. What's a proper girl to do? Hide, of course, and hope that she will be able to choose one before she ends up all aloney on her owney.

My Review:
As always, I am blown away by Louise Rennison's work. Every since the first book, I have been absolutely IN LOVE with this series. The woman is a genius. I just cannot get enough of Georgia. The girl is so crazy but you can't help but completely adore her. And her "ace gang" is right up there with her.

In this eighth installment, Robbie (her original love) is back and causes more problems for our dear little Georgia. Especially when things are starting to get heated with the drop dead gorgeous Italian hunk Masimo.

It is so amusing to read about Georgia's life. Rennison writes this series in the form of a diary. So you go through the day with Georgia as she writes everything down. From living with her psychotic family to her nutty friends to her totally messed up love life.

Love is a Many Trousered Thing is written in such a simple yet classy style that anyone can read easily and get hooked. They are pretty short reads but they are so much fun. I can guarantee that you will be laughing out loud at the ridiculous events that unfold in each book.

This is definitely a re-readable book, as is the whole series. And I would recommend it to anyone. It's a great pick-me-up read as well. ;)

My Overall Rating:
4/5

Age Recommendation:
This book is a general young adult audience novel. I would say that 8th or 9th grade would be a good age minimum due to some sexual scenes.

Cover Art:
I think that the cover art for this book is alright. I think it would have been better if it were more like the others, where it shows the mark. Nonetheless it is a pretty cover, and I like it.

Summary:
Enter the dark, magical world of The House of Night, a world where vampyres have always existed. Sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird has just been Marked as a fledgling vampyre and joins the House of Night, a school where she will train to become an adult vampire. That is, if she makes it through the Change--and not all of those who are Marked do.

My Review:
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a very nice light read, and I like the spin on vampires that Cast has. It's different, but good. I'm curious to see where it goes in the books that follow.

I really like the writing style that Cast uses. It's very simple to follow and easy to read. There is a lot with character development in this book, and I really like that. You really get to know the characters you are reading about and very little questions are left unanswered, and the few that are, I am assuming that they will be answered in the sequel.

The first book in The House of Night series takes us through the process of becoming a vampyre, and what it is like at the school. It's really not that much different from regular high school, other than the time and courses. But the students all act the same. There are still cliques, and there are still conflicts.

I don't normally like vampire stories where the vampires aren't really too different from humans, but I did enjoy this one. I really hope that the others are just as good. This book is re-readable, although it would not be my first choice. I do recommend it to those who like vampire stories and want a quick and easy read.

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

My Overall Rating:
4.5/5

Age Recommendation:
This book is definitely for a more mature audience. There are scenes involving sex, masochism, and illegal relations. I would not recommend that someone under the age of 15 read this book.

Cover Art:
The cover art is very simple, yet very symbolic. It really ties in well with the book. I like it a lot. And it doesn't give away things within the story, it actually leaves you quite curious.

Summary:

Nicole has a not-so-secret crush on her best friend's boyfriend.

Robby would kill for true love...he's done it before.

Joy hates boys, and today they're going to pay.

Derik can get any girl, except the one he wants.

Kelly has two boyfriends, but one's in jail.

Sean just wants to do the right thing...or does he?

My Review:
This book is dedicated "For all those who bleed". It's somewhat of a dark dedication. I really enjoyed this book. much more than I thought I would. It's set up in a very interesting way. The entire book takes place in one day. But each chapter is told from a different point of view, and some of them are at the same times as other and some are continuations in a different perspective. You would think that this style wouldn't necessarily work out too great, but it's a near flawless presentation.

For one day, you follow the lives of twelve different characters. You are given insight to their secrets and to what pains them. And all of these characters are connected to each other through at least one other person. Each person has to suffer from some misfortune that has befallen them.

Stolarz does an excellent job with letting you get to know the characters in such a short time period, and it doesn't feel rushed or forced. The only issue is that once you see their hardships, you want to know more after their time is up. You want to see a grand conclusion of how everything works out for them. But part of that is the beauty of this novel, it keeps you wanting more.

This book is an excellent read and everyone can relate to at least one of the characters, if not more. The situations are so real, so believable. This book is most definitely re-readable and I would recommend it to anyone mature enough to handle the content, because we all have hardships, and we all bleed.

So, on Saturday I went to the Decatur Book Festival. It was a blast to meet the authors and get books signed. :) Sadly, I was unable to attend the Blogger/Author Breakfast that Vania over at Reverie Book Reviews set up, but I did meet up with everyone later at Aimee Friedman(Sea Change and The Year My Sister Got Lucky) and Jackson Pearce's(As You Wish) event on supernatural romance. I was so excited to meet Aimee Friedman. She is so sweet and really cute. And I got my copy of Sea Change signed!!! That totally made my day. I love that book, and for that to be her first time writing in the supernatural genre, she did an amazing job. Jackson Pearce is adorable too, I just wish that I could have gotten her book signed, but the book store took their copies for sale before I could get one, so maybe I can catch her another time. :)

Photobucket

The second signing I attended was the event for Richelle Mead(Vampire Academy series) and Maggie Stiefvater(Shiver and Lament). This event was a Vampires and Werewolves smack-down. It was really cute to watch them both defend sides. During this event, I was able to purchase both of the books that these authors were there for. So now, I have a signed copy of Shiver and Vampire Academy! Both of these women are amazing, and so sweet. Oh, and super cute. It was so great to meet both of them and get my books signed.

Photobucket Photobucket

Another author that I got to meet was Jennifer Jabaley. She was just attending the festival and the Blogger/Author Breakfast. I haven't read her book yet, but I am really looking forward to getting Lipstick Apology. Jennifer is such a sweetheart and I wish I had gotten a picture with her, but I guess I'll just have to wait until I get another opportunity. It was so much fun getting to meet these authors and getting my books signed. I'm so glad to have met all of them! I'll definitely be attending next year. :)

Hope I didn't spoil anything! :)

Collected here in one volume for the first time, volumes one and two of The Vampire Diaries, the tale of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them.

My Thoughts:
Well, since my boyfriend is gonna be in the show, I figured I’d go ahead and get it. :) From what I’ve heard, it’s a pretty good series, so I’m looking forward to both the book and the show!

Looking For Alaska
by John Green

Photobucket

Summary:
BEFORE.
Miles “Pudge” Halter is done with his safe at life home. His whole existence has been one big nonevent, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave the “Great Perhaps” (François Rabelais, poet) even more. He heads off to the sometimes crazy, possibly unstable, and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed-up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young, who is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart.

AFTER.
Nothing is ever the same.

My Thoughts:
So, my roommate gave me this book because she thought it sounded like me. I’ve heard a lot of great things about John Green and with this book being an award winner, I’m sure it’ll be great. I can’t wait to read it.

My Sister's Keeper
by Jodi Picoult

Photobucket

Summary:
Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate – a life and a role that she has never challenged…until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister. So, Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable – a decision that will tear her family apart and possibly have fatal consequences for the sister she loves.

My Thoughts:
I have been told by so many people that this book is just like Marley and Me, in the way that it is a must read before you die. I really am looking forward to reading this one, as it seems like it’ll be one to make you think.

Hunted
by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

Photobucket

Summary:
WHAT IF THE HOTTEST GUY IN THE WORLD WAS HIDING A NAMELESS EVIL AND ALL HE WANTED WAS YOU?

But an unexpected danger has emerged. Neferet guards her powerful new consort, Kalona, and no one at the House of Night seems to understand the threat he poses. Kalona looks gorgeous, and he has the House of Night under his spell. A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life shows Zoey secrets she doesn't want to hear and truths she can't face?

On the run and holed up in Tulsa's Prohibition-era tunnels, Zoey and her gang must discover a way to deal with something that might bring them all down. Meanwhile, Zoey has a few other little problems. The red fledglings have cleaned up well--they've even managed to make the dark, creepy tunnels feel more like home--but are they really as friendly as they seem? On the boyfriend front, Zoey has a chance to make things right with super-hot ex-, Eric, but she can't stop thinking about Stark, the archer who died in her arms after one unforgettable night, and she is driven to try to save him from Neferet's sinister influence at all costs. Will anyone believe the power evil has to hide among us?

My Thoughts…on this group (heh, I’m too lazy to do four of them):
So, after reading Marked from a friend of mine, I borrowed the other four books in the series to finish it off. I really enjoyed the first one so I’m really looking forward to these next four. Although I have heard mixed reviews on the last two, I hope I enjoy them because it really is a great plot line and I do like the characters.

Now there's the small matter of a snogging accident involving her matey-type mate Dave the Laugh and some toasted newts in her undercrackers. Can Georgia lock up her red bottom and throw away the key?

My Thoughts…on the pair :)
Ever since I got the first book in this series, they have never failed to make me laugh. I absolutely love them. And I never expect any of them to not meet my expectations. I love how it’s written in the form of a diary, so it ends up feeling like you’re going over your own daily events. I can’t wait until the next one comes out in October!

Party Princess

But Grandmère's got a wacky scheme to raise the money, catapult Mia to theatrical fame, and link her romantically with an eligible teen bachelor who's not her boyfriend. No wonder Michael seems to think she's a psycho, or worse: not much fun. Is it possible that Mia, soon-to-be star of the stage, president of the student body, and future ruler of Genovia, doesn't know how to party?

Princess on the Brink
by Meg Cabot

Photobucket

Summary:
At last, Mia is a junior. An upperclassperson. So why is it that everything is going so terribly wrong? What is she doing in Intro to Creative Writing? Her beloved boyfriend could be leaving for Japan for a year—or more! Precalc has nothing on preparing for the worst separation ever!

Turns out there is one way she might convince Michael to stay. But will she? Or won't she? No matter what, Mia seems headed for disaster.

My Thoughts on the two:
I love the Princess Diaries series. They’re always the perfect pick-me-up for any bum day. I can’t wait to see how the book ending in the next two installments compares to the Disney rendition.

My Thoughts:

Update!

Hey all, Ali here! Sorry it's been so long since I've been on. Summer hasn't exactly been too kind to me...I ended up getting Mono, so I was out for a while. And then, I was performing in a show, while getting over Mono which, by the way, isn't a good idea. It takes longer to leave your system (>.<) And now, I am just finishing moving in and getting settled in my new dorm lol.

Oh, by the way, my friend Eli, over at The Tainted Poet is holding a contest right now. You could win Hush, Hush plus some other really neat prizes. And there could be a chance for a second and third place winner if enough people enter! SO...head on over to The Tainted Poet to enter! But, you gotta follow her first ;) Oh, and tell her that Ali sent you! You'll get another point towards your entry!!! ;)

This week has been a great week. I got so many books! I'm so excited to read all of them and get the reviews up for you guys. They all sound great. So...here goes!

Purchased:
Blue Moon
by Alyson Noël

Photobucket

Summary:

As Ever's powers increase, Damen's begin to fade after he is stricken by a mysterious illness that threatens his memory, his identity, his life.

Desperate to save him, Ever travels to the mystical dimension of Summerland, where she uncovers not only the secrets of Damen's past -- the brutal, tortured history he hoped to keep hidden -- but also an ancient text revealing the workings of time. With the approaching blue moon heralding her only window for travel, Ever is forced to decide between turning back the clock and saving her family from the accident that claimed them -- or staying in the present and saving Damen, who grows weaker by the day....

My Thoughts:
Hopefully this doesn't spoil anything for those who haven't read the first book in the series (Evermore). Or me haha since I haven't read it yet either. This does however sound very intriguing. I'm very curious to find out what this book is about. The summary makes me want to read the prequel even more!

Moonlight: A Dark Guardian Novel
by Rachel Hawthorne

Photobucket

As Lucas and Kayla struggle with their feelings for each other, a greater danger lurks: Humans have discovered the Dark Guardians and are planning their destruction. Kayla must choose between the life she knows and the love she feels certain is her destiny.

My Thoughts:
This book sounds amazing. I cannot wait to start reading. I think this will end up being a great read. I really like the idea of the romance between human and werewolf. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds!!

Full Moon: A Dark Guardian Novel
by Rachel Hawthorne

Photobucket

Lindsey is wild and reckless, a natural rebel - maybe because her entire life was laid out for her even before she was born. HGer parents are among the most powerful members of the Dark Guardians, an ancient tribe of werewolves, and they arranged Lindsey's betrothal to Connor long ago. The next full moon is coming all too soon, and then her commitment to Connor will be final - no turning back. She should be happy...so why can't she stop thinking abuot gorgeous, brooding Rafe?

When a dangerous threat on the pack escalates, so do tensions between Connor and Rafe. A fight over Lindsey is imminent, but will it be to the death?

My Thoughts:
The second in the Dark Guardian series. All new characters as the focal point. I'm interested to see how these Dark Guardians function and how this love triangle will work out between Lindsey, Connor, and Rafe. Will Lindsey accept her chosen fate by her parents? Or will she make her own fate?

Wolf Island
by Darren Shan

Photobucket

The eigth novel in the chilling Demonata series by Darren Shan, author of the New York Times bestselling Cirque Du Freak series, will terrify readers long after the last page.

I finally am completely caught up in the posession of all of the released Demonata series. Now all I have to do is catch up on reading them. :P

Eyes Like Stars
by Lisa Mantchev

Photobucket

Welcome to the Théâtre Illuminata, where the characters of every play ever written can be found behind the curtain. They were born toplay their parts, and are bound to the Théâtre by The Book -- an ancient and magical tome of scripts. Bertie is not one of them, but they are her family...and she is about to lose them all and the only home she has ever known.

My Thoughts:
I have heard so many amazing things about this book, and I cannot wait to read it. I am so excited that I got it. I totally want to put this at the top of my list, but alas, I gotta keep some kind of order right? Haha, maybe not. :P

Given:
Oh. My. Gods.
by Tera Lynn Childs

Photobucket

Summary:
All Phoebe Castro has to do is keep her grades up and have another stellar cross-country season and her dream of attending USC with her friends on a track scholarship is a reality. So it's a complete shock when her mom announces that she's marrying a near-stranger and moving them to Greece.

Before Phoebe knows it, she's stuck on a secret island in the Aegean and attending the superexclusive Acadamy, where her new stepfather is the headmaster and the kids are anything but your average students - they're decendants of the Greek gods, superpowers included. If regular high school wasn't bad enough, this is mortal misery.

Phoebe's only chance of reclaiming her old lise lies in securing that scholarship. But managing that may be an ungodly challenge, considering she's got a sabotaging stepsister from Hades and a gorgeous guy - what a god! - in her way...

My Thoughts:
Ever since I heard about this book, I have been dying to get my hands on it. I was so psyched when I got it from my friend. I've heard nothing but great reviews about it, so I'm really looking forward to a fun read.

Project 17
by Laurie Faria Stolarz

Photobucket

Summary:
High atop Hathorne Hill, near Boston, sits Danvers State Hospital. Built in 1878, and closed in1992, this abandoned mental institution is rumored to be the birthplace of the lobotomy.

On the eve of the hospital's demolition, six teens break in to spend the night and film a movie about their experiences. For Derek, it's an opportunity to win a filmmaking contest and save himself from a future of flipping burgers at his parent's diner. For the others, it's a chance to be on TV, or for a night with no parents. But what starts as a dare quickly escalates into a nightmare. Behind the crumbling walls, down every dark passageway, and in each deserted room they will unravel the myseteries of those who once lived there and the spirits who still might.

My Thoughts:
I love Laurie Faria Stolarz's work. This book is written in the same style as Bleed, from multiple perspectives. Although this one goes back and forth between points of view instead of just one chapter per character. There is a crossover in characters as well. Derek is a character from Bleed and the events in this book are mentioned later on in his chapter in Bleed. I am really looking forward to seeing how Stolarz develops this storyline and the characters.

And with his guidance, Annabellearns to just listen to herself and gains the courage to speak honestly. But will she be able to tell everyone what really happened the night she and Sophie stopped being friends?

My Thoughts:
I have been really looking forward to getting a Sarah Dessen book for a while now, so I was really happy when I got this one. Thanks to my best friend, I can now start my collection! This one looks really good, and I'm really looking forward to reading it.

Crazy In Love
by Dandi Daley Mackall

Photobucket

Summary:
High school senior Mary Jane Ettermeyer has been the good girl for a long time. To date, she's proud to say she's been able to keep her pledge of abstinence (not that anyone has challenged it). But when the cutest guy in school starts flirting with her, she suddenly finds herself crazy in love, even though her inner Plain Jane tells her he can't possibly think she's cute, while her inner Sexy M. J. is questioning her vow to keep herself pure until marriage. Not to mention that hot Jackson House shouldn't even be talking to her, because he already has a girlfriend!
