Last week, I went to see Red Riding Hood with my boyfriend. I must say, I really enjoyed this movie. It's a new take on the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood. In this film, we follow Valerie (a teenage Little Red) and her village as they deal with the devastation caused by the wolf that resides in the forest at the edge of the tiny remote village.

We come to find out the the wolf is actually a menacing werewolf who has some sort of connection to Valerie. This connection turns the entire movie into a mystery of who the wolf is and why it is plaguing the village.

Amanda Seyfried did a phenomenal job playing distressed Valerie, caught in a love triangle, attempting to aid in saving her village from the terrifying werewolf. A werewolf who regularly attacks the village and has caused so much damage, that reinforcements (Gary Oldman) are needed.

While keeping mostly true to the storyline of the original tale of Little Red Riding Hood, Red Riding Hood adds in some new twists and aspects making this childhood tale a riveting and horrifying tale for older generations. It is an absolute must see for anyone who loves a werewolf tale, supernatural tales, or even someone wanting a new take on a childhood favorite.

This movie is definitely NOT for children or anyone with an aversion to blood. It is a good bit gory and pretty creepy at times.
