My Overall Rating:
4.5/5

Age Recommendation:
I would have to give this book an age rec. of either 15 or 16. It does have sexual content, as well as alcohol and drug references and usage.

Cover Art:

The cover of this book is beautiful. All of the covers for this series are beautiful. I absolutely love them. How delicate it is, how fragile and cold. Mysterious and sad. It really does tie in with the story.

Re-read and Recommend?:
I would re-read this book in a heartbeat. Most definitely. And I would definitely recommend this book. I'd recommend it to anyone who has a love for anything fey or to anyone wanting to read a very sweet young love story. And yes, I would recommend this to adult readers as well. Even though the main character is a teen, her story is still relate-able to an adult.

Summary:

Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.

Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, the walk hidden in mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty-especially if they learn of her Sight-and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.

Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.

Now faeries are stalking her. One of the, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.

Rule #1: Don't even attract their attention.

But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost-regardless of her plans or desires.

Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.

Faerie intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in Melissa Marr's stunning 21st century faery tale.

My Thoughts:

I have been told over and over by Eli at The Tainted Poet that I seriously needed to read this book. That I would love it. And that I don't know what I'm missing.

She was right.

Wicked Lovely is a fantastic read, and I cannot wait to read Ink Exchange.

So, Wicked Lovely. A very well written novel that captured me from page one. Being unable to put a book down is something that I really care about. If an author can force me to stay up all night reading, I'm sold. And Melissa Marr has done that with this book. I couldn't put it down. Even though I already kind of knew what was going to happen (since this book has been out so long and my roommate has been telling me all about it, trying to get me to read it :P), I still couldn't put it down until I read everything for myself. For some reason, the anticipation that is built by Melissa didn't falter due to my previous knowledge of the book. And I was greatly impressed. That just tells me how great of an author she is.

Melissa Marr did a really interesting job of switching back and forth between multiple points of view. And since they were all separated by chapters, it was seamless. Although, I don't think that just any author can pull that sort of thing off. But I really enjoyed reading from each characters own perspective. It kept things unique and fresh. Not to mention, it was a good way of introducing some of the really important characters. You really get to know a character when you are in his or her mind, and I absolutely love having that opportunity in what I read.

I love everything that this book dealt with. All of the things that a normal high school girl would experience and then some. For Aislinn, things aren't entirely normal. Not only is she dealing with friends, family, and attempting to keep a friendship what it is; she can see faeries. And it's starting to cause problems. And not only for her. This book is a fantastic display of the bond between a grandmother and her only granddaughter, a budding romance between two friends, and the sad fact of life that even though you have a choice, you can't always get what you want.

I am so happy to have finally read this book and Eli was most definitely right. I was missing out on something amazing.

Happy reading my friends!
